Guidelines for Submissions

  1. Authors must indicate one of the following four categories and 11 themes that best describes the content of their submission. Suggested sub-themes are outlined but not exclusive.

    Four categories:
    • Evidence-based practice
    • Innovation 
    • Research 
    • Professionalization 


Eleven themes:
  • Family and Child Protection
  • Youth and Resilience
  • Health and Mental Health
  • Active Ageing and Caregiving
  • Social Work Education 
  • Spirituality and Wellbeing
  • Social Development and Empowerment
  • Policy practice and Advocacy
  • Diversity and Social Inclusion
  • Eco and Environmental Social Work
  • Sustainability and Social Capital

2. The abstracts should contain the following:
  • Abstract title (less than 25 words)
  • Authors’ name and affiliations
  • Abstract body 
    • Research presentation: Background, Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusion (less than 300 words)
    • Practice presentation: Background, Objectives, Practices, Implications (less than 300 words)

3. There should be no tables, diagrams or pictures in the abstracts
4. Authors must submit their abstracts online through the conference website. 
5. Please indicate the preferred type (oral or poster) and the nature of content (research or practice) of presentation. 
6. Authors can submit at most two abstracts as first author.
7. Presenting authors must be registered participants
8. Abstracts must be submitted and presented in clear English, and with a quality of language suitable for publication.
 
9. There are four types of presentations:
  • Free-paper Oral Presentation
  • Poster Presentation
  • Symposium
  • Workshop
  1. Reviewers, as recommended by the members of the scientific committee, will review the submitted abstracts.
  2. Two reviewers will review an abstract.
  3. The scientific committee will have the final authority over the acceptance of the submitted abstract, its type of Presentation, as well as the theme.
  4. Selection Criteria 
 
  1. The top 6 abstracts in research and practice respectively will be invited to join the presentation competition. Another top 6 abstracts of the students will also be invited to join the student presentation competition.
  2. There will be three awards of best presentation for Practice and Research presentation. In addition, three best student presentation (both research and practice) awards will be offered. 
  3. Selection Criteria:
  
  1. Each presentation is limited to 10 minutes with a follow up question and answer time for 2-3 minutes. There will be four presentations for each 45-minutes session. 
  2. The presentation should be in English.
  3. If authors wish to use powerpoint (ppt, pptx, pps, ppsx) for the presentation, all files should be submitted through the Conference website by June 18, 2019. File submission by e-mail will not be accepted. Please use the abstract reference number as the file name. The reference number will be assigned when the submission of abstract is accepted. The size of the file should be within 5MB
  4. The authors are required to warrant that the material used in the presentation is original and does not violate any copyrights. Unless request otherwise, Conference Secretariat assume their agreement for the Conference Secretariat to use the abstract for publications relevant to the conference.
  5. The presenting author(s) must register as a participant by March 31, 2019. It will be assumed that the author not registered by this date has withdrawn from the programme and his/her abstract will not appear in the Conference Programme Book.
  1. Poster will be shown between 16:00 – 16:30 on both June 27 and 28, 2019. The presenting authors should be presented in the assigned time (1.5 hours) by the poster to respond to enquiries by the participants. Hard copies of summaries can be distributed during the presentation.  
  2. The poster board is 1 m/100 cm (width) x 2 m/200 cm (height) and the poster size should be around 90 cm (width) x 150 cm (height). 
  3. Adhesive tapes will be available onsite for your use.
  4. The poster should include the title of presentation, name of author(s) and illustrations like figures, tables, color photographs, charts etc.
  5. Illustrations should be readable from a distance of three feet or more away.
  6. Suggested size in Photoshop format: Document size: 90 cm x 150 cm; dots per inches: 300 (Please merge as single layer before output)
  7. Suggested pixel in JPEG format: At least 4,000 pixel x 6,000 pixel
  8. The presenting author(s) must register as a participant by March 31, 2019. It will be assumed that the author not registered by this date has withdrawn from the programme and his/her abstract will not appear in the Conference Programme Book.

  1. Each symposium will have 1 hour. The chair of the symposium has to organize 3-4 presenters under a common topic from different perspectives. 
  2. The presentation should be in English.
  3. If authors wish to use powerpoint (ppt, pptx, pps, ppsx) for the presentation, all files should be submitted through the Conference website by June 18, 2019. File submission by e-mail will not be accepted. Please use the abstract reference number as the file name. The reference number will be assigned when the submission of abstract is accepted. The size of the file should be within 5MB

  5. The presenting author(s) and chairperson must register as a participant by March 31, 2019. It will be assumed that the author not registered by this date has withdrawn from the programme and his/her abstract will not appear in the Conference Programme Book.

  1. Each workshop will have 90 minutes. 
  2. The presentation should be preferably in English. Please indicate if another language is preferred to be used.
  3. There will be computer, projector and audio facilities in the room. The conference organizers will not provide other materials support for the workshop. Facilitators are expected to prepare the materials on his/her own.
  4. Facilitators should advise about the quota of the workshop and setting requirement of the venue.
  5. If facilitators wish to use powerpoint (ppt, pptx, pps, ppsx) for the workshop, all files should be submitted through the Conference website by June 18, 2019. File submission by e-mail will not be accepted. Please use the abstract reference number as the file name. The reference number will be assigned when the submission of abstract is accepted. The size of the file should be within 5MB
  6. The facilitators are required to warrant that the material used in the presentation is original and does not violate any copyrights. Unless request otherwise, Conference Secretariat assume their agreement for the Conference Secretariat to use the abstract for publications relevant to the conference.
  7. The facilitators must register as a participant by March 31, 2019. It will be assumed that the facilitators not registered by this date has withdrawn from the programme and his/her abstract will not appear in the Conference Programme Book.
